‘‘सिटी आँफ स्कूलिंग’’ के नाम से विख्यात देहरादून वर्तमान उत्तराखण्ड राज्य की राजधानी एवं प्रमुख शहर है। उत्तर में हिमालय तो दक्षिण में षिवालिक पहाड़ियोें और हरे-भरे जंगलों के मध्य स्थित यह शहर सहारनपुर से 42 मील, रुड़की से भी 42 मील तथा पर्वतों की रानी मसूरी से 14 मील की दूरी पर स्थित है। यह शहर 300-19’ उत्तरी अक्षांश और 780-5’ देषान्तर पर समुद्र सतह से 2300 फीट की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है।
